Welcome!

Before reading any of the posts below, you should read the intro, and the FAQ, and if you want, the glossary of genre terms. There is also a handy recommendation thread that you can use to post suggestions for movies. And to keep things clean, all non canon posts are pre-dated to be in JANUARY (which was before I began doing this little project) once they have 'expired' (i.e. are 10 days old).

Due to many people commenting "I have to see this movie!" after a review, I have decided to add Amazon links within the reviews (they are located at the bottom), as well as a few links to the Horror Movie A Day Store around the page, hopefully non-obstructively. Amazon will also automatically link things they find relevant, so there might be a few random links in a review as well. If they become annoying, I'll remove the functionality. Right now I'm just kind of amused what they come up with (for example, they highlighted 'a horror movie' in the middle of one review and it links to, of all things, the 50 Chilling Movies Budget Pack!!!).

Last but not least, some reviews contain spoilers (NOTE - With a few exceptions, anything written on the back of the DVD or that occurs less than halfway through the movie I do NOT consider a spoiler). I will be adding 'spoiler alerts' for these reviews as I go through and re-do the older reviews (longtime readers may notice that there is now a 'show more' which cleaned up the main page, as well as listing the source of the movie I watched, i.e. Theaters, DVD, TV) to reflect the new format. This is time consuming, so bear with me.

Thanks for coming by and be sure to leave comments, play nice, and as always, watch Cathy's Curse.

Hi BC,

Just discovered your blog this afternoon via Blogger's "Blogs of Note" feature. Horror Movie A Day is the first blog they've mentioned I've actually spent more than two minutes exploring. I like your style. And obviously I dig horror films too.

My first? Food of the Gods. I think I was ten or eleven. Haven't seen it since. Next was Jaws then One Dark Night with Meg Tilly and then Nightmare on Elm Street.

I enjoyed reading your review of Ginger Snaps, which I discovered a year ago via Bitch Magazine, which championed the movie as feminist horror.

I'd like to read what you think of Feast, which was the last horror film I saw that pissed me off (other than the remake of Hills Have Eyes 2, simply because it was terible.)

Also, have you seen/reviewed I Spit on Your Grave? I didn't see it in your reape/revenge category, and really I thought it was the original in the genre. No?

Anyway, thanks again. I'll add Horror Movie A Day to my blog roll and will be back to read more reviews.

Peace.

I have never seen Spit... the DVD is always like 30 bucks. I have a cap of 10 for a movie I haven't seen.

I dig Feast a lot but it needs to be seen with a crowd. When I watch it at home i get kind of bored because it's so nonstop (i know that sounds odd but its true - need to build up to something). But with a crowd, everyone cheering and yelling, it's a masterpiece. Still pissed Dumbension dumped it the way they did. Oh well.

It's been a while since I've seen a horror movie. They don't make them like they use to.

Congrats on becoming a blog of note, BC!

Oh yeah, noticed you're Meat Loaf Jim Steinman fan. I have 3 of their music videos on my blog with lyrics. Thought you would like to know.

Have a nice weekend!

Loaf and Steinman together create a force so powerful not even God himself could stop it. Sadly they won't work together anymore. But Steinman reads (or has read) this very blog, which is pretty much all the validation I ever needed!

I love the concept and I'm a huge horror movie buff BC. A horror movie a day? Dayum! That is commitment. Now on to the archives. Here's a horror flick for you: How about, Mothers Day? the closing scene with Queenie jumping out from behind the brush has still stuck with me all these years.

I've added this site to my blogroll. I plan to be back again and again! C you soon. And you've got to hit the people with a comic con review. I've got mine up on my site. lata!

For some reason I didn't do it (watched another movie the day I saw it). Maybe if I watch it again. It was OK, nothing special. Wasn't really horror until the last 10 min or so when the guy basically turned into Michael Myers. Even had the same jumpsuit!

Yes, I saw it last year on a double bill with... blah, one of the Fulci ones. Gates of Hell i think. Anyway, I loved it. I had the DVD in my hand last night but 30 bucks is out of my price range... the budget pack has forever spoiled me.

I have searched awhile ago in imdb.com that there's a remake of the film "cannibal holocaust" and it will be open in the year 2009.
As a horror movie addict, what's your scariest movie of all time??

August 23, 2007 12:53 AM
BC said...
I never really picked one... some that freaked me out are Blair Witch, Halloween obviously, and actually Mothman Prophecies. Then some others provided great jump scares - the first Scream, Halloween 5 when I first saw it (11 years old), the Ring, and Hatchet. But really, I don't get scared easily from movies.

Great blog!

On may 3, you mention the movie The Boogey Man. You put it in nice perspective. It was the first horror movie I ever saw and for years it scared me terribly. Silly, eh? Strange how a little bit of broken mirror can affect emotion.

Sincerely,
Anon

I have a question about a movie I just watched yesterday by Clive Barker called "The Plague". It stars James Van Der Berk(sp) and 80s icon Dee Wallace Stone of "ET" and "The Howling" fame. My question is why the kids stopped their killing rampage/soul sucking after getting their hands on James Van Der what's his name? I know it had something to do with him being a willing victim, but wasn't the Mom (aka Dee Wallace Stone)a willing victim to her daughter first since she released the daughter by untying her hands? I am so confused.
